The development was a conversion of period commercial building into a Mixed use development located in Sandringham (Melrose). Situated in a prime position in just opposite the train station, this old building was in a dilapidated state that could not be occupied. The site was purchased then a new commercial premise with residences were designed and built behind the old building façade whilst being sympathetic in the design to the other surrounding heritage commercial buildings..
The challenge was to retain the look and feel of the period building whilst improving its use and ensuring that the facade was to last for another 100 years. The design was centred around the historical importance of the building and ensuring that the new additions blended into the existing design and landscape..
